Privacy policy
What CarouselScout collects, what stays in your browser, who processes data for us, how long we keep it and how to ask for a copy or deletion.
Updated
CarouselScout (“we”) makes a Chrome extension and this website for Amazon influencers. This policy explains what data we handle and why. Short version: what you see on Amazon stays in your browser. We receive anonymous daily counters and, if you buy Pro, what’s needed to run your license.
What stays in your browser
The extension reads the Amazon page you open to count carousel videos and calculate its score. Everything it reads is stored only in your browser’s extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and is never sent to us:
- product data: ASIN, title, image, price, category, “bought in past month”, ratings, variants and carousel counts;
- your work list, notes and product values;
- the creator name you enter for “My videos” and where your videos were seen;
- your daily usage counter.
The extension never opens pages, browses or sends requests to Amazon on its own.
What we receive
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A random installation ID, extension version, date, plan and daily counters (products analyzed, full analyses, badges, limits reached, features used, selector failures) | Once a day | To know whether the extension works and which features are used. The ID is random, not linked to your license or to you |
| Your license key | Once, when you activate Pro | To check it with Polar and issue an access token. We store only a hash and the last 4 characters |
| Your email address | If you subscribe to emails or buy Pro | To send the emails you asked for, or for license support |
| Website visits | When you visit carouselscout.com | Daily totals per page, referring site, campaign (UTM) and device type. No cookies, no IP address, no identifiers |
We never receive URLs you visit, ASINs, search terms, titles, your creator name or your work list.
The website respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track: with either on, it sends no visit counters. There are no cookies on this website, so there’s no cookie banner.
Payments
Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record, and its payment processor Stripe. They collect your payment details under their own privacy policies. We receive your email, the products you bought, subscription status and the license key ID.
Who processes data for us
- Polar and Stripe: payments, invoices, taxes and license keys.
- Amazon Web Services (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, SES, Cognito): hosting, database and email, in the United States.
We don’t sell data, use it for advertising, or use it for anything unrelated to running CarouselScout.
How long we keep it
- Daily counters: kept as aggregated totals. Installation entries used to count active users expire after 35 days.
- Unconfirmed email subscriptions: deleted after 7 days. After you unsubscribe we keep only your email and the date, so we don’t email you again.
- License records: while your subscription exists and for 24 months after, for support and tax records.
- Payment events from Polar: 24 months.
Your rights
Email privacy@carouselscout.com to get a copy of your data or have it deleted. We answer within 30 days. On deletion we remove your email subscription, anonymize your license (your email is replaced by a hash) and remove its activations. Payment records that Polar must keep for tax purposes stay with Polar.
To delete what’s in your browser, remove the extension or clear its data from Chrome’s extension settings.
Children
CarouselScout is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. Important changes will be announced on this page before they apply.
